Monitoring Africa’s Targets through Technical Capacity Upscaling (MATATU)
Botswana Interactive Environmental Information System (EIS) is a comprehensive, user-friendly platform designed to facilitate data sharing, tracking progress towards achieving SDGs, and access to national and regional sustainable development datasets. The system is intended to support national environmental reporting, data exchange between Institutions, and capacity building for national experts. The EIS Portal includes components for the Integrated Environmental Assessment (IEA), Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) data, and other critical environmental and sustainable development indicators. It has a spatial analysis module.

Objectives
- Centralized Data Access: The EIS Portal serves as a central repository for various environmental datasets, both at the national and regional level. This centralized system allows for quick and easy access to collected data, eliminating the need to navigate multiple, disparate data sources. This data is uploaded and verified by national institutions.
- Structured Data Presentation: Datasets in the EIS Portal are likely to be structured in a user-friendly manner, making it easier for users to navigate and understand the data. This structured approach can greatly aid in the interpretation and utilization of the data.
- Search and Filter Features: The portal includes a search module that allows users to find specific datasets based on certain criteria. Additionally, filter features can help users narrow down the data to what is most relevant to their needs.
- Data Management Modules: The EIS Portal includes data management systems like BSDIS (Botswana Sustainable Development Information System) and BSDGS (Botswana Sustainable Development Goals System) that allow for efficient handling, organization, and updating of data. These modules ensure that the data available is always up-to-date and accurate.
- Training Modules: The portal provides training resources to help users understand how to effectively access and utilize the data. This serves as a guide for users, ensuring they can make the most of the available datasets.
