Regional Experience

Cedare is an institution with strong roots, governed by a high-level Board of Trustees, comprising environmental policy and decision leaders. Cedare’s scope of regional expertise include, among other activities, integrated water resource management, environmental assessment and reporting, integrated coastal zone management and management of natural resources. Since 1992, Cedare has undertaken extensive research in issues of strategic concern to the MENA relevance, in the fields of:

Cedare’s global partner base includes governments, universities, international organizations, NGO’s, media, private sector, and civil society at large, including the USAID, League of Arab States, Care International, the European Union (EU), the World Resources Institute (WRI), the World Conservation monitoring Centre (WCMC), UNEP, UNDP, the World Bank (WB), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the World Food Programme (WFP), the World Health Organization (WHO), the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD), the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and others.

Cedare is a member in the executive boards of significant international and regional entities including the Arab Water Council (AWC); the Joint Ministerial Committee on Environment and Development for the Arab Region; the Mediterranean Commission for Sustainable Development; the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment; the Steering Committee of the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 Initiative; the Global Water Partnership; the Arab Water Council; the Arab Roundtable of Sustainable Consumption and Production and the International Dynamic Coalition on Internet and Climate Change, the African Ministers Council on Water (AMCOW); and the Egyptian Water Partnership among others.

Cedare contributed to the establishment of a number of regional environment and information networks such as the Africa Environment Information Network; the North Africa Network of Environmental Journalists; the Arab Regional Environment Information Network; the Arab Disaster Risk Reduction Network; and the Arab Network for Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation, as well as other specialized thematic networks.
