Support to the Preparation of Africa Environment Outlook (AEO) for Business

UNEP and CEDARE are partnering to facilitate the review of the draft reports for the AEO for Business, using a comprehensive review template developed by CEDARE. This project will also involve the training of national experts on the DPISR and Opportunities framework methodologies for integrated environmental assessments.

Objectives

The project aims to develop content for Africa Environment Outlook (AEO) for Business, including content review and revision, training of national experts on the applied analytical framework, and preparation of statistical compendia.

Timeline

From – To     2022 – 2023

Outcomes

The expected outcomes include comprehensive review comments from national experts, the private sector, and other stakeholders in Africa on the AEO for Business draft report. An online review tool will be developed to support an expanded review process for the AEO for Business draft report. A statistical compendium for AEO for Business will be prepared, and relevant consultations and training reports will be produced.

Relevance to SDGs

The project is directly aligned with several of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It supports Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through the collaboration between UNEP and CEDARE. By focusing on the environmental outlook for businesses, the project also contributes to Goal 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production). Furthermore, the training and development of national experts touches on Goal 4 (Quality Education).
