Global Environment Outlook – Review Editing Analytical Database (GEO-READ)
In order to strengthen future peer review processes for UNEP’s scientific publications, it is important to further develop the GEO-READ tool, first developed by CEDARE to support the GEO-6 review editing. The fully developed GEO-READ will make the review process for UNEP assessments more efficient, transparent, and accessible. The platform aligns with UNEP’s digital transformation objectives and will leverage partnerships to strengthen environmental assessment capabilities. The final platform will be deployed on the UNEP cloud and would include enhanced secretariat control over future deployments of the system for use in reviewing other UNEP assessments and reports.

Relevance to SDGs
These outcomes support SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 14 (Life Below Water), and SDG 15 (Life on Land) by improving assessment and monitoring of the environment, as well as SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by improving environmental monitoring and knowledge sharing which contributes to sustainable infrastructure, climate action, marine and terrestrial ecosystem conservation, and halting biodiversity loss. Upgrading technology infrastructure and leveraging partnerships assists monitoring progress on climate action and environmental goals.
