CEDARE Jointly Organized with AWC & LAS a Session on the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems Nexus at Climate COP28

CEDARE jointly organized with the Arab Water Council (AWC) and the League of Arab States (LAS) a session on the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems Nexus at Climate COP28, Dubai, UAE. The session was conducted on 9/12/2023 at the league of Arab States Pavillion. Prof. Khaled AbuZeid, Regional Water Resources Director at CEDARE delivered the session keynote speech on the WEF Nexus approach for Climate-Smart Water management in the Arab Region. Dr. Omar Elbadawy, CEDARE Land Resources Regional Director delivered a presentation on the Use of Earch Observation Systems in Climate, Water, Agriculture & Ecosystems Applications. The session was inaugurated by HE. Dr. Mahmoud AbuZeid, AWC President, and Dr. Mohamed El Molla, representing the Minister incharge of Infrastructure & Water of UAE, and Dr. Mahmoud Fathallah, LAS. In addition to CEDARE, AWC and LAS, the discussion panel was joined by several other organizations such as CIHEAM, UFM, ESCWA, IWMI, RCREEE & PRIMA. The session was concluded by launching the AWC WEFE-SMaRT Initiative (Water, Energy, Food and Ecosystems Nexus: A Sustainable Management and Resilience Track for the Arab Region).
