Presenting Egypt’s case study at SwitchMed II Closing Workshop in Paris, France
On the 1st day of the 3-day workshop on mainstreaming blue economy concepts, May 15th, 2024, Dr. Hossam Allam highlighted Egypt’s efforts in accelerating blue economy policies.
In this panel, each country overviewed its status-quo in supporting Blue Economy practices with special emphasis to Sustainable Consumption and Production and Circular Economy. Other Arab countries as Morocco, Tunisia, Jordan, and Lebanon were represented as well.
Throughout the 10-year support of SwitchMed to Egypt and other Southern Mediterranean countries, SCP practices and circularity have become successfully incorporated in Egypt’s national policies. Added to it, the most recent achievement; the launch of Egypt’s Roadmap on Marine and Coastal Eco-Tourism, as one of the main cornerstones of the BE, developed by the Egyptian Ministry of Environment in partnership with CEDARE with the suppprt of SwitchMed II UNEP.
