UNISDR-CEDARE Agreement on Disaster Risk Reduction

In December 2017, the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) signed an agreement with the Centre for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE) to support capacity building in the Arab Region in the field of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) throughout 2018. The current activity aims to support Quick Risk Estimation (QRE) in 6 cities leading to subsequent action plan development. The supported cities are 3 in Tunisia (Bousalem, Kasserine and Gabes) and 3 in Mauritania (Tevragh Zeina, Kaedi, Rosso). The purpose is to identify and understand current and future risks / stress / shocks and exposure threats to both human and physical assets, and to deliver capacity building in the process. The activity is implemented through the UNDP offices in Mauritania and in Tunisia and in coordination with the DRR focal points.
