1st Round of the Green Business Model Training Module commences under NISE
On October 9th, 2022, the first day of the training program on Green Business Model Training Module took place. The module consists of 5 sessions and is based on the methodology developed by MedWaves to guide green entrepreneurs through their entrepreneurial journey, from defining the idea itself up to the commercialization of products and services, whether green projects addressing environmental aspects at large, or blue projects related to fisheries, maritime, cleaning up the Nile and the like.
Welcoming notes have been given by Dr. Hossam Allam, CEDARE’s Sustainable Growth Programme Regional Director and partners from Medwaves Barcelona Mr. Giorgio Mosangini, Team Leader – Green Entrepreneurship & Civil Society, and Mr. Pol Rovira, Project Manager.
Attended by 14 entrepreneurs on the first day, the training was delivered by Dr. Ashraf Tawakol and Ms. Ghada Moghny; SwitchMed-certified trainers, who among other 24 trainers, received the TOT by SwitchMed and were certified to mentor and transfer the knowledge to entrepreneurs. By attending this training module, entrepreneurs will acquire the methodology of how to develop ideas and how to turn them into sustainable green or blue projects that are both environment-friendly and profitable.
The 5-day-training module is interactive and intensively organized as the agenda of the first day involved Introduction and Key Concepts, Business Idea / Problems and Needs / Understand the Context, & Objectives / Mission and Vision. Next sessions will involve to sketch out the entrepreneurs idea and reflect on the reasons behind it, to develop the projects using the green business canvas, to test and validate it, then to plan the operations and development of the project and lastly measure and improve it.
The current trainees were selected through the call for applicants by the National Initiative for Sustainable Entrepreneurs (NISE), whereby CEDARE examined applications to prepare a shortlist of trainees. Applications are mounting due to the open call for applications till the end of October. The total number of selected entrepreneurs will reach 140 across greater Cairo and upper Egypt. All of them will receive the training and only the top 16 finalists will be rewarded by joining a business incubation, which will last for eight months.
The NISE is implemented within the framework of Egypt’s SwitchMed Down the Nile Project to support Sustainable Economy & Green & Blue Entrepreneurship. The project is executed by CEDARE in partnership with the Ministry of Environment and Medwaves and supported by SwitchMed; a programme funded by the EU.
