Support to the IFAD Hub Project

The project aims to support ecosystem-based adaptation planning for food security in 12 African countries under the IFAD Integrated Approach Programme. It is a collaboration between the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Centre for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE). The project activities include identifying climate vulnerable areas, mapping exposure and adaptive capacities, developing an online platform for resilience mapping, preparing a lessons-learned report on Shared Environment Information Systems, and facilitating a regional meeting. The project spans from 2018-2019 with the objectives of raising awareness on climate-food security linkages, enhancing data sharing between countries, and building capacities for evidence-based decision making on food security and ecosystem management in Africa. The activities align with IFAD’s goals to tackle environmental degradation and strengthen resilience of agricultural production systems across Sub-Saharan Africa.
