Workshop on SDG 6.4 Monitoring Organized by FAO in Egypt

Prof. Khaled AbuZeid, Senior Regional Water Resources Director at CEDARE, and Member of the UN-Water Integrated Monitoring Initiative (IMI) Strategic Advisory Group (SAG) on SDG 6, attended the Multistakeholder Workshop on SDG 6.4 Monitoring organized by FAO in Egypt during the period of 13-14/12/2023. During the workshop, he highlighted the challenges facing the the methodology of assessing achievement on Target 6.4.1 on Water Use Efficiency and Target 6.4.1 on Water Stress. He raised some important issues related to the applicability of the used methodoloy to water-scarce countries in the Arab Region and how the way the indicators are measured may not capture the efforts that are made by the region to raise water use efficiency and releive water stress.
