The UN Environment Programme and CEDARE Co-organized a Technical Training Workshop in Cairo, Egypt
The UN Environment Programme and CEDARE co-organized a technical training workshop in Cairo, Egypt, on shared environmental information systems and the use of Global Environment Outlook (GEO) methodologies for national State of Environment (SOE) Reporting.
The technical training was designed to enhance the capacities of national institutions in seven African countries for informed decision-making in addressing the challenges of the three planetary crises; climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution, on the national level, using integrated environmental assessment (IEA) in sustained, regular production of SDG-based national SOE reports. The workshop was attended by the designated national focal points for SOE reporting in Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Kenya, Senegal, South Sudan, Uganda, and Zambia.
The workshop outcomes will also be used to develop customized training materials for IEA in Africa, while a dedicated SOE portal will be used to assist African countries to systematically conduct their IEA and develop their national reports.
