The Technical Training on the Interactive Africa Environmental Information System (Africa EIS)

In cooperation with the UN Environment Programme in Africa, the Centre for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE) – Africa Sustainability Programme (ASP), is organizing the Technical Training on the interactive Africa Environmental Information System (Africa EIS) in Cairo, Egypt, from 28 to 29 May 2024, attended by representatives of the national environmental agencies and statistical offices from eleven African countries: Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Eswatini, Gabon, Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, South Africa, South Sudan, Togo, Uganda.

Africa EIS is a comprehensive, user-friendly platform designed to strengthen the science-policy interface by supporting national environmental reporting, data exchange among Institutions, capacity building for national experts, and evidence-based decision-making. The interactive platform will significantly enhance Africa’s institutional ability to comprehend, monitor, and manage its environmental resources, while its Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities can significantly reduce the time and effort spent on data analysis, and report generation.

بالتعاون مع برنامج الأمم المتحدة للبيئة – المكتب الإقليمي لأفريقيا، ينظم مركز البيئة والتنمية للمنطقة العربية وأوروبا (سيداري) – برنامج الاستدامة لأفريقيا، التدريب الفني على نظام المعلومات البيئية الأفريقي التفاعلي (Africa EIS) في القاهرة، مصر، في الفترة من 28 إلى 29 مايو 2024، وبحضور ممثلون عن الوكالات البيئية الوطنية والمكاتب الإحصائية من أحد عشر بلدًا أفريقيًا: كوت ديفوار، ومصر، وإسواتيني، وجابون، وغانا، ونيجيريا، وسيراليون، وجنوب أفريقيا، وجنوب السودان، وتوجو، وأوغندا.

يعد نظام المعلومات البيئية الأفريقي منصة شاملة وسهلة الاستخدام مصممة لتعزيز التفاعل بين العلوم والسياسات من خلال دعم التقارير البيئية الوطنية، وتبادل البيانات بين المؤسسات، وبناء القدرات للخبراء الوطنيين، واتخاذ القرارات القائمة على الأدلة. ستعزز المنصة التفاعلية بشكل كبير القدرة المؤسسية للدول الأفريقية على فهم مواردها البيئية ومراقبتها وإدارتها، بينما يمكن لقدرات الذكاء الاصطناعي للمنصة أن تقلل بشكل كبير من الوقت والجهد المبذول في تحليل البيانات وإنشاء التقارير.
