(December 1st, 2019 – March 1st, 2020), The project focused on targeting behavioral change through lobbying for and promoting the need of a levy to be enforced on plastic bags and charged by retailers at the point of sale. The project main activity was focused on the national awareness campaign to raise awareness about the adverse impact of plastic bags consumption on the environment and the available alternatives.
The project had various objectives namely to reduce single-use plastic bags usage in order to protect Egypt’s’ natural environment and resources and in parallel raise the awareness of public on the hazards of plastic bags. In addition, the project aimed at lobbying for a policy that would achieve the objective of reducing the use of single use plastic bags.
