Day 1 highlights from the workshop on “Building Climate Change Resilience through Nature-based Solutions to Water and Agriculture in the Mena Region Al-Murunah Project”
The 4 countries of the project, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and Palestine exchanged experiences and knowledge on Nature Based Solutions (NBS) Interventions. Participants also shared ideas and opportunities for upscaling at the national and regional levels.
The workshop included governmental representatives from the 4 countries, in addition to regional and international organizations (IWMI and IUCN) in addition to international experts.
Dr. Amr Abdelmeguid, Cedare’s Director of the Environmental Governance Programme, gave an overview of Al-Murunah national progress and its integration with Nature-based Solution (NBS) and inclusive governance approach, outlining the project’s key interventions:
- Solar-powered irrigation system for water efficiency and reduced carbon emissions
- Capacity-building training on gender and entrepreneurship
- Technical support and value chain to strengthen the market access
أبرز محاور اليوم الأول من ورشة عمل مشروع المرونة حول “بناء القدرة على التكيف مع تغير المناخ من خلال الحلول القائمة على الطبيعة في مجالي المياه والزراعة في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا”
شهد اليوم الأول من الورشة تبادل الخبرات والمعرفة بين الدول الأربع المشاركة في المشروع، وهى مصر والأردن ولبنان وفلسطين، حول استخدام الحلول القائمة على الطبيعة، كما ناقش المشاركون الفرص والأفكار المتاحة من أجل توسيع نطاق هذه الحلول على المستويين الوطني والإقليمي
وضمت الورشة ممثلين عن الجهات الحكومية في الدول الأربع، إلى جانب منظمات إقليمية ودولية مثل المعهد الدولي لإدارة المياه والاتحاد الدولي لحماية الطبيعة، بالإضافة إلى عدد من الخبراء الدوليين
عرض الدكتور عمرو عبد المجيد، مدير برنامج الحوكمة البيئية في سيداري، ملخص لمشروع “المرونة” علي المستوى الوطني، موضحًا دور كلٍ من الحلول القائمة على الطبيعة والحوكمة في تحقيق أهداف المشروع، كما استعرض الأتى:
نظام الري بالطاقة الشمسية لتعزيز كفاءة استخدام المياه وتقليل انبعاثات الكربون
الدعم الفني وسلسلة القيمة من أجل تعزيز فرص الوصول إلى الأسواق
بناء القدرات في مجال ريادة الأعمال وتمكين المرأة
